Belle Exhibitions

BRIEF:

This exhibition invites you to submit one image under the theme of ‘Fragile City’.

In May 2007, for the first time in history, the world’s urban population was larger than its rural population.  Cities have been at the forefront of progress and change, coming to represent growth, power and strength.

But cities are not simply powerful machines that function and produce from the centre, they are living and breathing and changing all the time.  An urban metropolis is a delicately balanced infrastructure that is held together by many small parts and connections and may be disturbed by the slightest change.

Our cities can be delicate, human, and fragile.

From the small intimate moments that make up the city to the larger metropolis... From the connections that hold the balance in place to the effect of a disturbance that can tip it upside down in an instant... How can we show the fragility of the cities we live in?

The exhibition will be supporting the charity Music4Children.
